Well, it’s here – I am an Army Wife. Not just any Army wife though, an Army wife whose new husband is just about to go knee-deep into training for his second deployment to Iraq. Since I returned from Prague, I have been telling myself that I needed to start a new blog about what it is like to be so involved with military life, but I was too busy spending time with Will. We made a promise to each other that we would not focus on anything Army related until after our wedding day. We did follow through with that, but now it seems that it has hit us hard and fast. Today he left for a few days of training in Utah and then on Thursday he goes to California for one month. There are a few things in September and then mid-October thru early November he has to be in Wisconsin. We should be able to spend our first Thanksgiving as newlyweds together and then he is off again. We are hoping that he will be able to come home for a few days during the Christmas holiday, but nothing is set in stone – nothing is ever set in stone when it comes to the Army. Then, in January, his unit is scheduled to deploy to Iraq with a homecoming of sometime in November or December of 2011.
My intentions for this blog are mostly personal. I have made it through a lot of challenging things in my life by writing and I think that blogging about my feelings and duties and everything Army-wife-esque over the course of the next year or so will help me greatly. Since I do not know how much I will be able to communicate with my husband while he is gone, I also hope that he can read the blog to stay up-to-date with my thoughts and emotions. There are several things that I plan on accomplishing while he is gone (college graduation and acceptance into a graduate studies program being the biggest) and this might help him feel more involved. Of course, this blog is also for my readers, although the numbers may be small. I would love to serve as an inspiration, but it is more likely that my posts will serve as late night entertainment. In any case, I write this blog with the following phrase in mind which I hope you will all remember – love conquers all.
